This Privacy Policy explains how Pearls' Candy & Nuts ("Pearls'," "we," "us"), a locally owned shop in Bellingham, Massachusetts, handles information about you when you visit our website and place orders. If anything here is unclear, just ask us.
01What we collect
We collect only what we need to run the shop:
- Order & contact details — your name, email, phone, and the delivery, shipping, or billing address you provide at checkout.
- Account information — if you create an account, your email and saved addresses, plus your order history.
- Payment information — handled by our payment processor (see Payments). We receive confirmation of a successful charge and limited details like the last four digits and card type; we don't store full card numbers.
- Newsletter email — only if you choose to sign up.
- Usage information — basic, mostly anonymized data about how the site is used (pages viewed, device type), gathered through our own analytics to help us improve the store.
02How we use it
We use your information to take and fulfill your orders, send order-related emails (confirmations, pickup-ready, shipping, delivery, and gift notifications), provide customer support, prevent fraud and abuse, meet legal and tax obligations, and make the store better. If you opted into the newsletter, we use your email to send occasional shop news — and you can stop those any time.
03Payments
Card payments are processed by Clover. When you pay, your card details are sent directly to Clover's secure systems — they don't pass through or get stored on our servers. Clover handles that information under its own privacy and security practices.
04Analytics & cookies
We use our own privacy-friendly analytics (Matomo) to understand how the store is used. We do not use Google Analytics, and we don't sell your browsing data. Our site uses a small number of cookies to keep you signed in, remember your cart, and measure basic site usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features (like staying logged in) need them to work.
05Who we share with
We are a small family business, and we do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the partners that help us run the shop, and only as needed:
- Our payment processor (Clover) to take payment;
- Shipping carriers to deliver mailed orders;
- Service providers that host the site and send our email;
- Authorities, if we're legally required to, or to protect our rights and customers.
06Email & marketing
Order-related emails are part of the service and are sent when you place an order. Marketing emails (our newsletter) are only sent if you opt in, and every one includes an unsubscribe link. We removed the text-message option, so we won't send you SMS.
07How long we keep it
We keep order and account information for as long as your account is active and as long as we need it for our records, taxes, and legal obligations. When we no longer need it, we delete or anonymize it. You can ask us to close your account and remove your details (see Your choices).
08Your choices
You can:
- View and update your account details and saved addresses when signed in;
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any marketing email;
- Ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you;
- Manage cookies in your browser.
To make a request, contact us — we'll respond as required by applicable law.
09Children
Our store is meant for grown-up shoppers. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, let us know and we'll delete it.
10Security
We use reasonable safeguards — including secure connections and trusted providers like Clover for payments — to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to limit who can access it.
11Changes & contact
We may update this Privacy Policy as the shop or the law changes. The "Last updated" date above always shows the current version. For any privacy question or request, reach us through our contact page.
